The big MLS rebrand.

Recently the decision was made within Major League Soccer to try and freshen up their brand.  The league (established in 1993) will soon welcome its 20th and 21st teams (New York City and Orlando City) so a decision was made that the league needed an update and a refresh. The branding campaign is called ‘MLS Next’ and is supposed to reflect the growth of the league and the celebration of the continued support from its fans and commercial partners.

The new logo isn’t just a simple graphic though. As with all identities there are details hidden in the design. Each MLS team will be given their own personalised crest to wear on their shirts but the logo is to be worn on the sleeve and will not replace any team badge.

Here is an MLS video (in partnership with FIFA 15) launching the rebrand…
