10 years ago today the world witnessed one of the most iconic and shocking moments in the history of football. With the 2006 World Cup Final posed at 1-1 and deep into extra-time French footballing legend Zinedine Zidane head butted Marco Materazzi in the chest. He was sent off and Italy went on to win the tournament on penalties. Zidane’s professional footballing career, one envied by the world, ended in the most disgraceful of ways. The image above is a statue that was created by French artist Adel Abdessemed. It is simply called ‘Headbutt’ and was unveiled on 26th September 2012 in Paris. It has since been moved to a museum in Doha.
