I have mentioned the project Goal Click before. It is a global football photography project in which one person from every country in the world takes photos with disposable analogue cameras that symbolize football in their country.
In Russia, the photographer Sergey Novikov has been documenting amateur Russian football in the Ural Mountains. You can read a very in-depth interview with Sergey on the fantastic website FutbolGrad (here). His ambition was to highlight the cultural impact of the region and the influence of Russia and Asia as the two cultures meet in the heart of the country.
