Last Friday I was contacted via Twitter by Grant Millar (@UnicornUnbound) regarding the possibility of publishing sets of Dundee United photographs taken on some of the European trips during the 1986/87 season. It was an opportunity I was more than happy to accept.
I feel very privileged to be in the position of being able to share these pictures with a wider audience. So here, in galleries to be published over the next couple of weeks, are those images, with a short introduction from Grant –
Two Arabs, Grant Millar and Stewart Alexander*, are digitising some old photos of Dundee United UEFA games from 1987 and we thought this blog would be a good place to post the photos.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be posting these photos, beginning with some random photos of United fans. Once the photos of supporters have been posted, we’ll then post the photos of some matches, players and stadiums.
* He’s actually a fan of the Dons, but supports United almost all of the time.
Gallery 1 – Dundee United staff v Scottish journalists – ‘Friendly’ match, Gothenburg, May 1987.
The photos below were taken in Gothenburg in May 1987, at the end of a friendly football match between some staff members of Dundee United and various football journalists from Scotland. This match was played before the first-leg of the UEFA Cup Final.
Hopefully, some United fans will recognise family, friends or even themselves in some of these images.
